10 Ways to Save Power At Home! | Day 1 | 8/3/14

Day 1, Saturday 8 March 2014

Task:
Today I decided to look up some simple but effective ways to save energy and power at home. Here are some ways to save power, at home!

Result:
Here's what I found out:
Turning off a socket at a power outlet can save power and keep you safe.

Switching off lights when you aren't using them is good way to save power.

Use natural lighting - during the daytime, if its a nice bright day, don't use any lights. Let Earths own lighting come into your house to create a peaceful ambience.

Buy fluorescent light bulbs, they save you 10% off from your power bill.

Use less water - turn off the tap when your brushing or after you've finished rinsing.

Insulate your house - Insulating and natural lighting are a great combination, insulating your home will keep all the warmth from the sun and any other heat source inside your home.

Close the fridge! - Did you know, that 1/3 of most peoples electricity bill comes from leaving the fridge door open? Your letting out valuable cool air, so decide before you open, and make sure you close the fridge properly.

Energy efficient appliances - Look for the Energy Star  when buying appliances, the more stars then the more energy efficient the product!

Last but not least, rechargeable batteries. Buying rechargeable batteries are a good way of saving money, and having a good renewable way of keeping battery required products charged.
